How does CEREC work?
The CEREC process begins with the preparation of the affected tooth/teeth and the creation of impressions with a sophisticated camera. Our dentists in Glastonbury, CT then use computer-aided design and manufacturing technology (CAD/CAM) to design your new restoration and craft it with the help of an onsite milling machine. After final adjustments are made and we’ve ensured your satisfaction with the finished creation, our doctors cement it into place. That’s it!
There are many valuable benefits associated with the CEREC process. These include:
- CEREC crowns are crafted from all-ceramic materials and contain no metal, which means they’re ideal for aesthetic-minded patients and patients with metallic allergies or sensitivities.
- Thanks to our hi-tech camera, there’s no need to rely on goopy impression materials for the design/milling process. It can all be handled digitally!
- One of the most frustrating aspects of restoration work for patients is often the placement of a temporary crown or other restoration in the interim, which can be awkward and uncomfortable. CEREC eliminates this step entirely allowing patients to go straight from dental damage/pain to a quality replacement that’s built to last.
